AIA KENTUCKY SOCIETY 2008-2009 SCHEDULE

Thursday, 18 September 2008 in the Chao Auditorium in the Ekstrom Library at the University of Louisville at 6:00pm Professor John Hale (University of Louisville) on the topic: “Beyond Delphi: Ancient Greek Oracle Sites from Albania to Turkey.” Professor Hale’s lecture is being supported by the Anthropology Department of the University of Louisville and the Kentucky Society of the AIA. Following the lecture there will be a special reception honoring the Kentucky Society’s 55th Anniversary.

Thursday 2 October 2008 in the Chao Auditorium in the Ekstrom Library at the University of Louisville 6:00pm film maker Gary Glassman (founder of Providence Pictures) will show and discuss his film “Secrets of the Parthenon.” This lecture is being co-sponsored by the University of Louisville’s Department of Fine Arts and the Commonwealth Center for the Humanities and Society at the University of Louisville.

Thursday, 16 October 2008 in the Chao Auditorium in the Ekstrom Library at the University of Louisville at 6:00pm Professor Susan Stevens (Randolph-Macon Women’s College) on the topic: “Picturing the Dead:  Representing Individuals on the Mosaics of Late Roman North Africa."  AIA sponsored lecture

Thursday, 5 February 2009 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington in the W.T. Young Library Auditorium Professor Carlos Fabião (University of Lisbon) on the topic: “The Making of Lusitania. As a Roman Province.” AIA sponsored lecture.

Monday, 30 March 2009 in the Chao Auditorium in the Ekstrom Library at the University of Louisville at 6:00pm Professor Andrea Berlin (University of Minnesota) on the topic: “The Case for Judea.” Professor Berlin is the Joukowsky Lecturer of the AIA.
