Membership in General
Membership is open to everyone. It's not just reserved for
archaeology professionals. Members receive a variety of valuable
benefits while helping the AIA to:
- protect archaeological sites, preserving them for study,
collection, and enjoyment for generations to come.
- create a vivid and informed public interest in civilization of
the past.
- foster the sound professional practice of archaeology.
Benefits of Membership

Society, where you can attend lectures by distinguished
archaeologists and participate in other engaging events.
- The latest archaeological news through the AIA newsletter,
weekly reports, and the AIA's official web site,
www.archaeological.org,
where news is updated daily.
- 30% discount on registration for the AIA Annual Meeting, where
the latest archaeological research and discoveries are presented.
- 10% discount on archaeology books published by the AIA
- An exclusive membership decal to proudly display your connection
to America's oldest and largest archaeological organization.

intriguing archaeological sites with leading AIA experts.

students and other scholars. Academic job seekers may also use
job placement services at the AIA Annual Meeting.

publications: Archaeology magazine and the American
Journal of Archaeology.
Membership Categories
- Basic Membership - This is the individual membership, with cost
variations depending on whether (a) no publication, (b) one
publication, or (c) both. The cost of membership, not
including the cost of the publication(s), is 100% tax deductible.
- Student Membership - The cost is based upon publication(s)
received, and is 100% tax deductible as previously explained.
Proof of current student status must be submitted with membership
application.
- Dual Membership - This category is shared by two people in the
same household. Benefits are shared by the two people, such as
receiving one magazine or journal rather than two. As before,
part of this membership is tax deductible.
Please consult AIA's national web site,
www.archaeological.org, for
a complete listing of the costs involved with the various categories of
membership. Likewise, you may join immediately through their web
site or by calling 877-527-5300..
Contact John Fischer, Secretary-Treasurer, for special forms for memberships for both Basic and Student
